Peer Groups:

Senior Swine Veterinarians of Iowa.

This is a group of 20 veterinarians, which now meet 3 times a year.  This has been extremely successful

Associated Swine Veterinarians of Iowa.

This has meet once and is composed of younger newly qualified veterinarians from Iowa State University.  This group has been more difficult to organize.  However, recently 3 members of the group have approached me and requested that the group is restructured and more attempts are made to meet.

Swine and Wine Group – Europe Peer Group

The major swine practices of Europe meet formally once a year with invited guests.  This group provides Iowa with a unique insight into events in Europe. The group has concentrated on PMWS over the last few years.  Now that it is likely that European PMWS has hit North American will prove extremely useful.  The group comprises veterinarians from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, and Belgium.

Australasian Peer Group

This group is organized with the help of Fort Dodge – an Iowa based company.  I have been privileged to be asked to help with the initial organization of this group, which comprises veterinarians from Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Philippians and Indonesia.

South Korean Peer Group

Through the breeding company Sunjin, a small group of Korean Veterinarians and I meet annually to discuss current swine issues in South Korea.
